70-Year-Old Woman Has The Perfect Response To 'Why Are You Single?'

70-Year-Old Woman Has The Perfect Response To 'Why Are You Single?'

If you've ever spent time wondering why you're single -- which, please, most of us have at some point -- maybe you should consider flipping your perspective.

One 70-year-old woman in India has a pretty excellent answer for why she's unattached (not that you need one at all).

In a Humans Of Bombay Instagram post that has over two thousand likes, the photo caption reads: "I'm 70, working, happy and still unmarried."

When the woman was asked if there was any particular reason for her singlehood, her answer nails it: "No man has been special enough...yet."

Those seven perfect words are a great reminder that preserving your self-worth and standards just might be the key to happiness.

Today I am feeling all the feels. Today my baby only nursed twice: once when he woke up and then again as we cuddled before bedtime. He fell off the couch today and I ran to him to offer comfort. He wanted nothing to do with my breasts as he usually would. When he was clearly thirsty, he wanted a sippy cup instead of mama's milk. He tottered around the house perfectly content and happy. He's learning to climb, to talk, to run. And I find myself overcome with joy and longing at the same time. What is the name for this time in a mother's life? When day by day she watches her last baby grow and leave the safety of her bosom? This letting go and pulling back... And yet there is no pulling back, there is only surrender and acceptance. So why does my heart feel so raw and tender? These hot tears burn my eyes and my breath catches in my throat. How can we be here already, so fast? This next phase, whatever it has in store. I feel like I gave birth just yesterday. And now I'm clinging to every moment as if it were our last. And that's just it; I don't know how long these sweet spirits will be here with me in this earthly realm. So if there's any solace for my mama heart, it's to love more, breathe more, cherish more. That's all I can do. ðŸ'™ #empoweredbirthproject

After being recognized by @time as one of 50 Instagram accounts to follow in the US, I remember posting my reflections on dealing with success vs. failure. Seems to me I said that failure was easier to handle than success. This morning I would have to modify that statement. After looking at images posted by the curators of the magnificent @instagram exhibit at Photoville NYC, I am feeling a mix of awe and disappointment. Awe at the creative excellence of their exhibit, and disappointment that the images they had requested from me did not make the final cut. Trust me, success is lots more fun than failure!

"I’m a 30-year-old mother to three boys, registered nurse, and wife to my husband of nine years. I tell stories of pregnancy, birth, and motherhood to inspire and empower women. I snapped this photo while breastfeeding my son at the kitchen table during a typical afternoon in our busy, happy lives."

"I'm a photo editor. Like most women, I'm critical of my body, especially my legs. I've always wanted longer, thinner legs. But it's not long thin legs that make great pictures. Fuller legs do. They're beautiful...they look like sculptures."

"Love is holding hands on the sidewalks, kissing at a crosswalk, warm glances on a subway platform, laying in the sand of Coney Island and on the lawns of Central Park -- it is everywhere. Through the process of searching for tender moments of #younglove I finally learned to open my heart and find the love of my life, Tommy."

"I am a multimedia artist seeking to explore the heightened reality that occurs within our increasingly digital lives. I photograph, film, and curate myself and my surroundings as an ongoing performance that others can spectate and take part in through social media. This image is a selfie-portrait taken in a vacant strip mall in Hollywood and was inspired by the harsh realities that exist in a town known for its perpetual fantasies."

I am a fan of Shirley Chisholm. "You don't make progress by standing on the sidelines, whimpering and complaining. You make progress by implementing ideas." Such a great way to say stop whining and do something about it. Yeah! ðŸ†'🏆

"I am an illustrator and the Associate Director of the School of Art + Design at Portland State University. I make work about the things we buy and the feelings we feel. Bright colors, hand lettering, inventories of illustrated objects, rule based systems and input and interaction from people all contribute to the way I make images and projects."
